    La preservación de la fertilidad

Cryopreservation is a process of preserving biological materials, such as cells, tissues, or even entire organisms, by freezing them at very low temperatures, typically below -130°C, in order to keep them viable for long periods of time.

At Advanced Fertility Center Cancun we help you preserve your fertility so you can become a mother when you’re ready.

This process helps to prevent the decay and damage that would normally occur over time, allowing the material to be stored for years or even decades. Cryopreservation is especially helpful in fields such as medicine, where it is used to store cells, tissues, and organs for transplantation, and in scientific research, where it is used to preserve rare or valuable specimens for future study. It can also be used to preserve genetic material, such as sperm, eggs, and embryos, for use in fertility treatments or for conservation purposes.

    Fertility preservation in cancer patients

Since there are procedures in which a woman loses the ability to have children, there are ways to have children despite the loss of fertility.

There are cases in which women need to proceed to surgeries in which organs needed to have a pregnancy are removed. Or, on the other hand, due to chemotherapy treatments or processes that cause strong hormonal changes or damage to the ovules, women lose the possibility of getting pregnant.

Fortunately, there are alternatives to be able to proceed with the necessary treatment for cancer and, in the same way, to have the possibility of having children later on.

It is of extremely importance that in case you are interested in proceeding with this type of treatment, you should consult with a doctor who is a specialist in the subject.

Here are some of the reasons why cryopreservation is used:
    • Preservation of biological samples: Cryopreservation is used to store biological samples, such as semen, eggs, embryos, and tissues, for future use in research, medical treatment, or breeding programs.
    • Long-term storage: Cryopreservation allows samples to be stored for extended periods, even for decades or centuries, without significant degradation or loss of viability.
    • Disease management: It can be used to store stem cells and other biological materials for regenerative medicine, such as treating cancer, diabetes, and other diseases.
    • Species preservation: It can be used to store genetic material from endangered species, which can be used to reintroduce them into the wild or to maintain genetic diversity.
    • Facilitating research: Cryopreservation of biological samples can be used to facilitate research in various fields such as genetics, agriculture, and biotechnology.

Overall, cryopreservation is an important technique that helps to preserve and protect biological materials for future use, research, and conservation purposes.
