What is oocyte capture?

It’s a simple and short procedure with the objective of extracting eggs from the patient. It’s performed under sedation so you won’t feel pain during this procedure.

Each month an egg naturally leaves the ovary during the ovulation process. During oocyte retrieval, the ovaries are stimulated in order to obtain a larger number of mature eggs. This stimulation is performed for 12 to 14 days, and the ovarian puncture will be scheduled afterwards.

Which cares should be taken before the procedure?

• Fasting for 8 to 10 hours.
• Use neutral soaps when showering.
• Don’t use deodorants, perfumes or scented body creams.
• Bring someone you trust with you.

What care should be taken after the procedure?

• You must remain in the recovery area for one hour, so that the medical team can evaluate your condition.
• You should correctly apply the medications prescribed by the doctor.
• Avoid intense physical exercise.
• Sexual relations should be reduced, as they can become painful.
