Consecuencias del tabaco en la salud

In Mexico, around 15 million people use tobacco, of which at least 5% are minors.  Smoking, in addition to causing respiratory diseases, is also linked to other ailments that cause the death of more than 100 Mexicans a day.  Next we want to explain to you how tobacco harms your health.

On May 31, World No Tobacco Day is commemorated, with the aim of publicizing the negative effects that smoking has on health.

What does tobacco contain?

Tobacco smoke has around 4,000 chemicals and more than 50 carcinogens. One of the main substances it contains is “nicotine”.  Which is addictive and the one that produces the effects that people normally seek when consuming tobacco.  In addition to nicotine, cigarettes have ammonia, carbon monoxide, methane, among other harmful to humans.

Smoking hurts non-smokers just the same!

When a person is exposed to tobacco smoke without being the smoker, it is called passive smoking. This also causes respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.  In addition, in babies it can cause sudden death syndrome, according to the world health organization.

> We invite you to read our entry “Ovary cancer symptoms”.

Risks that tobacco can cause you.

In addition to causing cancer in the lungs, mouth, throat and other organs of the body.  Smoking exposes you to suffer from heart disease, asthma, bronchitis, COPD, osteoporosis, among others.

Women who smoke may be more likely to have trouble getting pregnant.  While in men, it can cause erectile dysfunction or affect sperm, reducing fertility.

Does it affect during pregnancy?

Smoking during pregnancy increases the chances of the mother or baby having complications during pregnancy or delivery.  Since tobacco contains harmful substances, health professionals recommend completely avoiding its consumption by pregnant women.
