Prueba genética

When infertility occurs in a couple, you should go to a fertility clinic so that specialists can evaluate the case and recommend the best evidence.  One of the tests that is performed is genetic, through this you can know if a couple can conceive a child using assisted reproduction treatments.

Genetic tests are used to diagnose infertility of men and women.

Genetic tests are recommended to be performed before starting fertility treatments, thus increasing the rates of pregnancy with IVF treatments.

The PGS for its acronym in English Preimplantation Genetic Screening, now known as PGT-A is one of the tests that allows you to study the DNA of the ovules, sperm or embryos to select only those that have a correct genetic load and avoid chromosomal alterations  .

When should the PGS be used?

  • Late motherhood. For those women who are over 35 years old, as the age progresses, the risks of abnormalities increase.
  • Recurring abortions.  The spontaneous and recurrent abortions arise due to the presence of chromosomal abnormalities.
  • Implantation failures.  When abnormalities occur, the ability of the embryo to implant in the uterus can be affected.
  • Evaluate embryos. A normal amount of chromosomes must be found, this is carried out by cell biopsies and tests.

The PGS helps identify those chromosomally normal embryos to increase success.

Benefits of performing PGS

  • Decrease the possibility of a miscarriage.
  • Minimize the risk of abnormal pregnancy.
  • Improve the chances of a successful birth.

The PGS process is carried out following a series of steps:

  1. Biopsy.  A biopsy is performed on each embryo to rule out those that have an abnormal number of chromosomes.
  2. Genetic study.  The genetic material of the embryo is studied to detect genetic alterations.
  3. Transfer.  They are transferred between one or three healthy embryos, if they have more they can be frozen.

Through this test, multiple genetic problems or chromosomal abnormalities are evaluated and pregnancy rates by transfer increase when choosing those embryos that have the correct number of chromosomes.

At Advanced Fertility Center Cancun we prevent babies from being born with inherited diseases.  We have a specialized team to advise you and carry out the procedure, guaranteeing the highest quality.
