What is a recurrent pregnancy loss?

It is called that way when a woman has more than one pregnancy loss, consecutive or not. in this case is is important to identify the cost of the last to reduce the probability of another abortion.

For this it is necessary to take some tests before trying again to achieve a pregnancy.

We invite you to read our entry: When to go to the gynecologist?

What are the most frequent causes?
    • First trimester: if an abortion happens during this period for the first time, the probability to have another loss in the next pregnancy is from about 30% approximately.

However, if a second loss exists and the test to identify the problem hasn’t been done, the probability increases to 60 or 70%. The most common cause usually are genetic alterations.

    • Second trimester: Autoimmune disorders where the cells of the mother can attack the pregnancy, infectious or metabolic problems.
