Are you looking for a fertility treatment? Today hundreds of women are considering a special procedure to achieve pregnancy due to infertility. This time we want to share with you a little information about what frozen embryo transfer is, and how it allows you to choose the most appropriate moment to become a mother.
In this procedure, a woman can use frozen embryos, preserved from a previous In Vitro Fertilization cycle, to be able to use them in a future cycle.
The IVF procedure consists of extracting the eggs and fertilizing them with the sperm while outside the uterus, so that later the embryos can be transferred to the mother’s uterus.
In vitro fertilization is carried out for the transfer of frozen embryos. It begins with ovarian stimulation, to ensure the maturation of the ovum that will be inseminated.
We invite you to read our entry: “What is ovarian stimulation?” so that you know this procedure in more detail.
After this, the extraction of said eggs will be carried out so that they can be fertilized, however in this step, instead of depositing the embryos inside the uterus to achieve a pregnancy, they are frozen and preserved.
The freezing method is called Cryopreservation. Here vitrification procedures for eggs, semen or embryos are performed. The freezing process is faster compared to the average, since temperatures below -195º are reached in seconds.
Embryo freezing can be useful for women who want to have more than one IVF cycle, postpone their motherhood, or those who will undergo chemotherapy or surgery.
In addition we also have In Vitro Fertilization and Cryopreservation.
