Why should embryos be cultivated?

Vitamin D helps fertility

The Deoxyribonucleic Acid known as DNA, contains the genetic information of all living beings and has the code of molecules necessary for the proper functioning of the body.  Currently it is used to carry out different tests in medicine.

DNA Day is commemorated on April 25

At Advanced Fertility Center Cancun we offer as part of our assisted reproduction treatments specialized genetic diagnosis to know your health and help you have a healthy baby.

– Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)

Through this diagnosis it is possible to prevent babies from being born with hereditary diseases. They can be done in two ways:

  • With embryos.  After the In Vitro Fertilization is performed, the embryos wait until the third day of development to perform a biopsy on each one and only healthy embryos are transferred to the uterus.
  • With ovules. Before fertilization, a biopsy is performed on each egg to identify those with the best chances of implantation and gestational progress.

– Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGT-A)

Formerly known as PGS, it is a test that analyzes genetic material to detect chromosomal gains or losses in embryos and to increase the chances of pregnancy success and decrease abortions.  It is also possible to reduce multiple pregnancies, only the best embryo is selected to have a successful transfer.

In our entry PGS: Genetic test to babies you will know when it should be used and the process that is followed.

– Endometrial reception study

This molecular diagnosis is used to determine the receptive state of the endometrium; which is the layer that internally covers the uterus.  By performing this test, performing a biopsy, it is known whether the endometrium has the ability to interact with an embryo for implantation.

Through this study, implantation failures can be avoided; since it determines the appropriate day to perform the embryo transfer and the results obtained provide more reliable results.

– Prenatal genetic studies.

The tests that are performed are not invasive for the mother nor are they life-threatening for the baby.  One of the most common is amniocentesis. Which should be performed between the first and second trimester to detect possible genetic abnormalities. It should be performed in women with higher-risk pregnancies.
