Period pads.

This is one of the most known and used by women during their period. It’s a piece of an absorbing material that sticks to the underwear, these pads can have “wings”, which can protect underwear from stains and licks. You can find different sizes and different absorbance, choose the one that adapts to your flow.

An ecologic option also exists that is made from fabric, and this can be washed and reused.

Tampons.

These are made from absorbent cotton and have the shape of a little stopper. This is placed inside of the vagina to absorb the flow. Some tampons have an applicator which makes them easier to apply, and the lower part has a string that is used to extract it after it has been used.

Menstrual cup.

The menstrual cup is made from silicone that doesn’t allow bacteria to adhere. This is placed inside de vagina to recollect the menstrual blood in the cup. After its use, it’s taken out and the blood is poured in the toilet, the cup gets washed and you can place it again.

These are some benefits of the menstrual cup.

• Prevent bad odor caused by the blood oxidation.
• It has a lower environmental impact, because it’s reusable.
• It can last from 3 to 10 years if you take good care of it.
