In whom does endometriosis occur and how can this condition affect women?
If you suffer from severe menstrual cramps, then you should read on. Below we will share with you some information about endometriosis and how it can affect the health and lives of women if it remains undiagnosed.
Endometriosis is a disease in which a tissue similar to the inner lining of the uterus grows on the outside of the uterus.
Endometriosis usually occurs in patients in the fertile stage, women who are between 20 and 35 years old approximately.
We invite you to read our blog post: Does age affect fertility? We believe it may be an interesting subject for you.
There are 4 theories of how endometriosis occurs, which you will hear in this episode.
The most accurate theory is retrograde menstruation, in menstruation there is an outflow of tissue through the vagina, another part of the bleeding goes up and passes through the uterus and tubes, this blood accumulates in the pelvic cavity, outside the uterus.
Endometriosis can cause severe pain during menstruation and in some cases also infertility. If you experience severe cramps when you menstruate, we recommend you see a specialist for guidance.
How can it be diagnosed?
During a consultation, the patient indicates that she is experiencing severe menstrual pain or “cramps”.
These, as mentioned above, are not entirely normal, especially if these pains prevent you from living your life on a regular basis.
